He holds a PhD in Journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and is Professor of Organisational Communication and Communication Strategies and Plans in the Department of Communication Sciences at the University of Santiago de Compostela.
He is an advisor and lecturer to several European and Latin American organisations and universities on communication management processes and plans.
He is part of the Novos Medios Research Group of the USC and, since December 2007.
He is the author of almost one hundred reports, articles and books on communication. He has been Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the USC (2004-2009). He is the recipient of the Queen's National Journalism Award.

Her publications have also dealt with the transition from the press to the digital environment, studying issues such as quality and public funding to preserve plurality and public service in local media.

She has a degree in Journalism (2005) and a PhD in Journalism (2011) from the University of Seville. She currently teaches journalistic writing at the Faculty of Communication of the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
She has been a guest lecturer at the University of La Frontera (Chile) and at the University of La Sapienza (Rome), has participated in different national and international R+D+i projects and has had several academic research and teaching stays in prestigious centres.
Among her lines of research are the evolution of journalistic genres, new narratives and emerging technologies, as well as the figure of the journalist and his or her working conditions, fields which have been the focus of some of her publications in high impact scientific journals. In the professional field, she has worked as an editor in the written press and communication agencies.

Manuel Goyanes is a professor and researcher in management and sociology of the media at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. His research examines the influence of journalism, digital media and new technologies on people's daily lives, as well as the effects of news consumption on political participation and knowledge.
Professor Manuel Goyanes' interests are also directed towards scientometric analysis, especially of global inequalities in scientific participation and trends and patterns of publication in communication.
